HOW TO CHOOSE FUEL FOR OUR FIREPLACE
Bioethanol for fireplaces is an alcohol of plant origin, obtained by the fermentation of vegetable sugars derived from organic waste. The process of chemical distillation of ethanol is not enough to obtain good quality bioethanol and of course it is impossible to obtain quality bioethanol combustion only through the distillation process. Even with the single or double distillation process, the final product, bioethanol, will inevitably contain substances or particles that will remain in the fuel. In order to completely remove some particles and substances that will end up in our combustion vessel, bioethanol must be corrected or perfected in multiple stages and purified through modern molecular devices. This cleaning process is not followed by many fuel companies due to the extra cost. Even bioethanol sold as anhydrous or up to 100% does not guarantee that it has been repaired or purified.
Bioethanol used for fireplaces is not a potable alcohol that can be used for purposes other than its combustion or external uses such as cleaning. To ensure non-use for human consumption, bioethanol (fully denatured ethyl alcohol) contains specific denaturing substances. Appropriate denaturing substances do not qualitatively alter its combustion, nor do they cause odors. However, inappropriate or different content of denaturants may affect the quality of the fuel, resulting in odors when burned.
According to all the above, the quality fuel, in addition to the secondary cleaning - correction process - must contain denaturing substances in the right content & be selected properly so that on the one hand they meet the specifications of the legislation and on the other hand they do not burden with burning odors.
